My arms fall
forever short,
reach exceeding my grasp.
My hands can’t find anything,
nothing seems to last.
I once held you
in the dark, but tonight
touch only air.
I think I’ve seen you
somewhere else,
just can’t remember
where.
When I go out,
numbness creeps
into my limbs,
people try not to stare.
When I’m back
home again,
it’s like you’re
still there.
