Overboard

Life as we know it
speeds away,
leaving us far behind.
Maybe we’ve
gone overboard,
perhaps we’ve just
lost our minds.
The music is ever fainter,
as we drown
in each other’s eyes,
floating together
far and away,
beneath starlit skies.
Ditching the party
we don’t go back,
knowing we won’t be missed.
No one will hear us, now,
adrift on waves of bliss.
I guess we’ll be skipping
both lunch and tea,
now we’ve both
fallen headfirst
into a bottomless sea.
